Hey there, I’m Jacqui –

Part-time digital nomad and self-proclaimed work-life balance queeeen 👑

I believe that life’s too short to spend 40+ years stuck in the office, counting down the days until your next vacation. That’s why I waved goodbye to my 9-to-5 and started freelancing so I could work from anywhere in the world without set hours.

Whether you’re dreaming of a remote work setup for long-term travels or seeking the courage to adventure alone, I’m here to help you take that leap.

That Travel Junkie isn’t just a travel blog, but also a guide to redesigning your life into one with passion – a life that’s not on hold until retirement – with the digital nomad freedom to work and travel on your own terms.

On this blog, I’ll share:

  • Advice for ditching the 9-to-5 grind and making money while you travel
  • Tips and tricks for planning long-term trips and finding the perfect work-life balance
  • Detailed recommendations for all the destinations I’ve explored
  • Personal stories, lessons learned, and the do’s and don’ts of travel
  • Inspiration for aspiring digital nomads and solo travel adventurers

Who am I?

I’m a solo-travel aficionado with over 20 countries under my belt. I love long-term traveling from one to three months because I can fully immerse myself in each country’s culture by finding my favorite local spots, while also giving me plenty of time to work and explore without feeling rushed.

You could say I have a bit of a wanderlust bug. But let me tell you, it wasn’t always that way.

Picture this: 18-year-old me, fresh into my first official heartbreak where I was constantly bumping into my ex (and his new girlfriend, might I add). So, what did I do? Packed my bags, waved goodbye to the drama, and hopped on a plane to Italy for four months as an au pair. Genius move, right?

During those four months in 2015, I went on solo trips throughout France, Spain and Morocco. Even though there were times I found myself crying from missing my friends and family, it was worth it because that trip ended up being my ticket to self-discovery.

Fast forward to 2021 and many solo trips later, I was a couple of years into my first ‘real’ adult job and found myself constantly counting down the days until my next vacation. I was just scraping by, so I started freelance video editing on the side which soon surpassed my full-time income. So I took the leap and quit!

I created Casey Creative Cuts, my post-production agency, where I was freelancing full-time to up my earnings and have the freedom to travel whenever. During my first year, I raked in six figures (double my old job) and spent a total of four months traveling. Gotta say, nothing beats working from a cozy cafe in Paris or on a beach in Hawaii.

I started this blog because I want to be your virtual travel colleague, the friend who nudges you to take that first solo trip, even if that means lugging your laptop with you to pay the bills while you’re there.

Join me as we navigate the globe together because the world’s too big to stay in one place. Who knows, your next adventure might just be a click away. Cheers to exploring, embracing the unknown, and living that travel junkie life! 🌎✈️
